The meeting they weren’t prepared for

One day, she found a little lost child on their way to the grocery store.As the boy was screaming and there were no adults around, she thought he was lost and went to the boy to offer him some help. Who is your mother, darling? Shailey asked. He looked to be about four years old. The boy replied that his mother was crying and said goodbye. And that’s when the couple decided to take the boy home and called the police. They were so kind ang gentle to him and told him that everything would be fine. They tried to show in every possible ways that they wanted to help him.

Connection

The child then began to like her. The woman made a sandwich with all her love and Roy liked it so much.

The police showed up at their door after a while. Shailey told them all the things that happened in the morning while the child was scared and hid behind the woman’s back.

She also mentioned one very interesting and important thing for the police. She found a note in his pocket stating that her mom could no longer take care and support her child.

The police decided to take the child to an appropriate structure so he could be under their support, but Shailey said that until they find her mother, she is ready to become his adoptive mother. And if it was something impossible, she would do all necessary steps to adopt him legally.

Shailey and her husband Floyde raised Roy as people raise their own children- giving them love and not expecting anything for it. All of their children have left home and were living with their families in different states.

Feeling the need

Roy was grateful that, despite their modest lifestyle, he had good adoptive parents who did everything for him.On weekends, they went to the park, played and had picnics. Shailey also helped the child with his school homework.

The unexpected guest

When Roy was 17, his biological mother came to their house unexpectedly. She was dressed in fashionable clothes and introduced herself as Lisa, Roy’s mother.
