The Second World War may seem very far away for several generations but that does not mean that we should not be interested in and aware of history, quite the contrary. In certain areas of France, the Allies, including many Americans, landed to help the population. This is what happened to K.T. Robbins, very young at the time, who took up arms. In France, he met the Frenchwoman Jeannine, 18 at the time, with whom he fell in love. And for France 2, they finally met 75 years later.

K.T. Robbins met and fell in love with Jeannine in 1944 near Briey, Meurthe-et-Moselle. He was mobilized fairly quickly on the Eastern Front and had to leave the girl’s village hastily and then returned to his country. On the other hand, he never forgot his beautiful Jeannine. Back in the United States, he married and had children. But deep in his heart there remained his love of youth: Jeannine.

When the veteran told his story to journalists from France, who was preparing a report about veterans in the United States, he did not expect them to find her. They did some research and found the famous Jeannine that K.T. thought dead. Jeannine Pierson born Ganaye was in a retirement home in Montigny-lès-Metz. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the landing, K.T. returned to France and the journalists had reserved a very nice surprise for him: seeing Jeannine again. In the video below, we have the privilege of witnessing a very moving reunion.

K.T. told Jeannine: “I have always loved you. You have never left my heart.” while his beloved said: “When he left in the truck, I cried of course, I was very sad. I wish he hadn’t returned to America after the war… He says he loves me, I understood that. Me too. I have always thought of him, telling myself that maybe he will come.”

A moment that neither of them thought was possible took place thanks to the magnificent work of the journalists. A beautiful story that warms the hearts. We hope you liked this sotry, please share it with your friends and family members to support us too!
