Jenny Rowbury, a 34-year-old Englishwoman, has spent most of her life lying down because of a rare disease. In fact, at the slightest movement, Ms. Rowbury is at risk of breaking her spine.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome causes connective tissue damage, making the spine unstable and the joints extremely flexible. This disease occurs due to a lack of collagen. Jenny discovered the disease at the age of 19. Until then, she led a very ordinary life, studying at university and not suspecting her condition at all.

In 2020, Jenny underwent surgery, but it did not bring the desired results. “Jenny is in constant agony, but she cannot even scream. Her case is beyond the expertise of British neurosurgeons,” said her mother Ann Rowbury.

Despite being forced to spend all her time lying down, Jenny continues to cultivate her passion for poetry. Her works have been published in a small collection entitled “Rainbow In My Eyes.” It is because of her writings that Jenny’s story became public knowledge.

A charity event with well-known British actors was organized for her, raising almost the entire amount needed for her to travel to the United States for treatment.

The treatments and therapy will cost the Rowbury family nearly £750,000, and the remaining funds were raised through crowdfunding.
