A homeless man receives a curious letter after saving several people from a serious accident.

Alerting the emergency services should be the first step when you witness an accident. Then you have to identify the risks and help the injured people according to the indications of the emergency services if possible.

Darin Barton was a homeless man who had been sitting in the same place beside a highway in Denver, USA, for several years. He didn’t have a roof, and despite everything tried to keep and transmit positive energy and good humor. He rarely heard kind words from passers-by, but he never was still kind to everyone.

“They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, not me. I’m just trying to make people’s day a little bit better” he says.

But one day, everything changed, and not just for Darin. As usual, Darin was sitting by the side of the road when he suddenly heard a loud noise coming from the highway, a sound he recognized instantly and made his blood run cold.

A truck had entered several cars and people’s lives were in danger. The truck had overturned and was on fire. This terrible accident took the lives of many people that day, but without Darin, the situation would have been even more serious.

Without hesitation, he rushed to the burning truck. The people around were desperately trying to avoid the flames and that’s when Darin entered the scene. He saved the lives of several people. That is how he became the new hero of the town and even a local TV channel drew attention to his heroic efforts.

Several people chose to send letters to the channel thanking Darin. They decided to go to Darin’s usual place to surprise him.

One of them wrote: “I pass by this exit every day on my way to work and have seen him there for several years. He always has a fantastic smile on his face and beautiful blue eyes.

The homeless man was deeply touched by these messages and he himself has an important message that he wants to share with the public: “Talk to me, or another homeless person. Invite them to lunch or something and listen to their story. You might be able to learn something.” he told Fox31.
