Saving children living in violent and unhealthy family situations is fundamental. This is why the role of social services and authorities should be strengthened. This Arizona state police officer was very touched by a little girl’s story he saved and decided to give her a new life, far from violence.

Three and a half years ago, agent Brian Zach of Kingman, USA, was called in for a house check. There, he found Kaila, who is now four, and Brian immediately knew something was wrong.

“I went there and realized that her injuries were definitely assaults and should be investigated. I took care of her, brought her back to the station. … We watched Wreck It Ralph and there was a bond” Brian told.

Kaila had been seriously injured. It was not the first time. Brian is a father of two teenagers, and he could not recover from the situation. “When I got home that night, I told my wife about this cute little girl we had seen and just wanted to take her home” he said.

A foster family needed to be found for Kaila and the Zach family immediately offered. Days turned into months and months turned into years. And finally, the family was able to officially adopt Kaila in August of 2020!

“The best thing about 2020 is the fact that we have a new official member of our family. It was my early Christmas present.” Now the little girl lives her happiest life surrounded with love and care.
