Other animals A touching friendship between a little pony and a huge dog. Her owner commenting their unusual friendship by Impress story 29.01.2023 29.01.2023 45 views Share 0FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinTumblrRedditWhatsappTelegram Can animals feel sympathy for members of another species? It turns out they can. In September of this year the owners of the Newfangled dog kennel in Hexham acquired a 4-month-old Scottish pony foal, and they could not even imagine that one of their dogs – a harsh Newfoundland named Dom would take patronage over her. The pony was named Sutton, and she was grazing peacefully on the lawn when Dom saw her. The animals immediately became friends. All day they did not leave each other, rubbed their faces and expressed their sympathy in every possible way. As Emma Bone, the owner of the kennel tells, Dom is the only one of her eight Newfoundlands who has shown interest in ponies and became so close friends with them. The next day the dog again spent near his new girlfriend, and over time their friendship only grew stronger. Now they still spend whole days together, and every morning Dom looks for him to greet her. As you can see in the photo, the animals are almost the same height and look a little bit like each other. According to Emma, she does not understand whether Dom considers the pony a dog or, conversely, the pony considers Dom a horse, but it is obvious that both are happy with each other’s company and enjoy every second they spend together. They don’t need words to understand each other. Sometimes the pony and the dog take long walks in the neighborhood, and always return together. Emma considers this behavior of animals unusual and says jokingly that they wanted a pony, but got, it seems, another dog.
