Luna, a year-old dog named Luna, was homeless and her situation was getting worse by the day. The local social services department said that if the dog could not find owners, she would have to be put to sleep. Moon needed a loving guardian, and as soon as possible.

The social service staff contacted volunteer Lucy Holmes and told her about Luna. The girl immediately took the dog temporarily into her care.

After taking a closer look at Luna, the volunteer noticed the signs of pregnancy in her pet. The veterinarians confirmed her hunch: Luna was pregnant, and her puppies were due any day now.

Lucy quickly prepared her home for the pups’ arrival and made sure Luna had everything she needed to make sure the pregnancy went smoothly. When the dog went into labor, Lucy and her family were shocked at how many puppies she brought into the world.

“We were expecting four, maybe five puppies,” Lucy said. – We couldn’t believe it when she gave birth to 10 puppies! I stayed up all night, but I’m so proud of Luna.”

Since giving birth, Luna has been feeling great and has no problem making sure all of her pups get the right amount of food. As soon as the babies are older, they will be turned over to the shelter to find new owners.
