The season 18 premiere of America’s Got Talent featured a spectacular debut by a gifted 11-year-old vocalist from Louisville. In Louisville, D’Corey Johnson won praise from the community after playing a magnificent rendition of the National Anthem during the morning announcements. He then set out on a three-month national tour to showcase his singing abilities across the United States.

In September 2023, Johnson moved to California to pursue his dream of becoming a famous person. He also hired a talent agent to help him with this decision. Johnson dazzled the crowd on Tuesday night’s debut episode by performing a rendition of Journey’s 1982 smash song, “Open Arms.”

Johnson gave a clear response when AGT Judge Sofía Vergara questioned him about his future goals, saying he wanted to be a Broadway and movie star.

He specifically stated that he would want to participate in shows like “Wicked” and “Hamilton.” Johnson acknowledged being an avid watcher of America’s Got Talent, saying, “I watch AGT almost every day.”

Because you are honest like my mother, Simon, you are my favorite. AGT Judge Simon Cowell was clearly struck by Johnson’s intensely emotional performance and pushed him to sing the chorus without the backing music.
