The United States has recently faced a troubling biological invasion: the Asian giant hornet, infamously dubbed the “killer hornet.”

As the world’s largest and most aggressive hornet species, its first detection in 2019 in Washington state triggered immediate alarm. The last confirmed sighting was in 2021.
