Fossilized remains of the snake were discovered in a coal mine in Colombia. It was named Titanoboa, which literally means “titanic boa.”

The largest snake ever known lived in a hot, tropical climate. While it wasn’t venomous, it took down its prey using incredible constriction power and a set of sharp, thin teeth that could pierce through almost anything.
