On November 8, 1935, a boy was born who would go on to become one of the most remarkable figures of the modern era. Alain entered the world in a Parisian suburb, roughly 80 kilometers from the renowned Notre-Dame Cathedral. His mother was a pharmacist by profession.

Later, when his father decided to open a cinema, she took on the role of cashier.

However, Alain’s childhood took a turn when his parents separated when he was just three years old. Each went on to build new families, and as a result, he grew up alongside half-siblings.

His stepfather worked as a butcher, and his mother eventually joined him in the trade. With both parents occupied, Alain was raised mostly by a nanny. Though he initially felt cared for, over time, he began to sense that he was not a priority in anyone’s life.

Academically, he never excelled and often found himself in trouble. Frequent expulsions forced him to switch schools multiple times.

Despite his struggles in school, he had a natural talent for music, particularly the piano, and even won awards in competitions. However, his passion for music was short-lived.

As a teenager, he learned the butcher’s trade and worked in the field for three months before taking a job in retail. Eventually, he enlisted in the military, an experience he later credited with shaping his character. Upon returning to civilian life, he took a job as a waiter.

It was during this time that he decided to pursue a career in film, embarking on an arduous journey filled with countless auditions.
