They did a very big kindness and won’t forget it. Recently they arrived at a Queens home and found a mom to-be in labor right in their living room. The NYPD officers immediately sprang into action. They knew exactly what they needed to do and helped them deliver the baby boy. They were in the Jamaica home around 1 p.m. to answer an emergency call they received. Kevin Kelland later said that the first thing he heard was screaming. It was what led him exactly to where the woman was. It was Sade James’s scream, a 21 year old woman who was giving birth. Police responded to a call and discovered Sade James in labor. The first thing they did was to reassure her that everything was going to be OK, because that is one of the most important words every woman in that situation wants to hear. After that they asked questions like: When was the last contraction? How frequent were they, how long did they last? It was needed to understand how far along she was in labor. They understood that there was no need for ambulance and they could handle the situation themselves. The father of the baby, Justin Clausell, was there all the time and did everything to support his wife. He told her she’s doing great, she’s breathing great. The police officers continued to assure that they were there to get the baby out safely. Rodriguez, who was a paramedic for 14 years, said, “We told her she needed to push every time she felt a contraction and that we’re there to get the baby out safely.” And in approximately 5 to 6 minutes after arriving they delivered the baby boy. It was an instant moment of happiness for all of them. The other family members who were home at that moment gave them huge warm hugs and thanked for their professional acts. Soon the mom and the newborn boy went to the hospital and the officers went to the hospital Thursday morning to visit the family and be aware how Syre Jeremiah Clausell, the newborn boy, was feeling. Sade James and the baby’s father, Justin Clausell. The family will always be thankful for their quick use of their knowledge. We are so happy that everything had a good ending.
