Doctors separated a Siamese twin 13 years ago. Look where are they in life now

Siamese twins are very difficult children. They are rarely born, and such cases are always unique in their own way. It is not always possible to separate such babies without the death of one of them. Such operations can only be carried out by competent specialists with extensive experience, but even they are not always able to achieve a successful outcome.

The case of Isabelle and Abby Carlson, like others, is unique. The girls were born fused. The heart of one sister was in the chest of another. Also, many internal organs were interconnected, which complicated the work of doctors. The doctors were not sure about the successful outcome of the operation to separate the sisters.

The parents were warned about the serious situation of their daughters. But if Isabelle and Abby had remained connected, they would not have been able to survive into adulthood. So, they didn’t have any other choice than to agree.

The operation was carried out simultaneously by 17 specialists. For doctors, as well as for the parents of girls, it was a real miracle that the sisters survived. In 2008, medicine was already at a fairly high level of development, but despite this, cases with Siamese twins have always caused difficulties. And in the situation with Isabelle and Abby, things were especially difficult, but doctors managed to successfully cope with their task.

Now the sisters are already in their teens. Girls are 13 years old. They go to school, attend gymnastics classes and live an ordinary life. The girls spend a lot of time together, holding hands and talking friendly. The sisters cannot imagine their lives without each other, but at the same time they are sincerely glad that the doctors gave them the opportunity to become full-fledged and independent individuals.
