There are many ways to get into the Guinness Book of Records and people never stop surorising the humanity with their creativity. Some train for a long time to become the first and achieve world fame, others find themselves on the pages of the collection simply by the fact of their birth.

It turns out that the language can also become a source of pride and this is how. 47-year-old father of many children from the American town of Syracuse Byron Shlenker lived quietly and did not think about any achievements. One fine day, he helped 14-year-old daughter Emily prepare a report on the Guinness Book of Records.

The American was leafing through a plump volume borrowed from the library and suddenly came across information about an Australian with a 7.9 cm wide tongue. Byron thought that his own tongue was “damn wide” and, out of curiosity, measured it. It turned out that the width of his tongue reaches 8.6 cm, and this is comparable to the size of the then popular iPhone 6 or a beer coaster.

The inquisitive Schlenker did not stop there. He persuaded his daughter to change her language as well. At first, the girl did not agree, but then curiosity got the better of her. Her tongue was more modest in size, the width was “only” 7.3 cm. Impressive!

Byron, without thinking twice, called the editors of the Guinness Book of Records. “Linguistic” father and daughter were recognized as having the widest languages in the world – among men and women, respectively. It is interesting that there are three daughters in the family, but only Emily went to her father in the “language” plan. The rest of the girls and mother are the most ordinary.

Byron Schlenker became a local celebrity in his native Syracuse. He is stopped on the streets and asked to show his tongue, not believing that he is real. A man loves that kind of attention. He seems to have a good sense of humor! He willingly entertains onlookers and participates in photo shoots with huge envelopes and lollipops. Friends often joke about Schlenker’s options for diversifying his personal life. But his wise wife recalls that they have a decent family in which three young ladies grow up and translates vulgar hints into a harmless joke.

Byron himself is glad that he is now not just a father of a family and a project manager, but a world record holder. The reaction of those around him amuses him!
