This story began in 1997. A man named David came to the shelter looking for a cat. His choice was a small blue-black baby cat. The man motivated his choice by the fact that black cats are rarely taken from the shelter, because there is nothing unusual about their appearance and he wanted to help this kitten. But in this particular case, at the expense of ordinary appearance, David was greatly mistaken.

The first seven years of his life were most ordinary. The cat, which the guy named Scrappy, got along great with his owner. But just after the 7th birthday of the pet, dramatic changes began to happen to him. And it happened very suddenly and unexpectedly, which scared the man quite a lot.

The fact that Scrappy began to change color. His black-black coat was suddenly covered with a white patina, well, as if it was powdered with snow. Despite the fact that the cat began to look solid and unusual, the owner took him to the vet to find out the reasons for this change. Experts found out that vitiligo, a pigmentation disorder, was to blame. This disorder led to such a dramatic “whitening” of the pet. And while in humans it happens quite often, but in cats, on the contrary, such a diagnosis is very rare.

Anyway, soon after, David decided to make the cat famous and created a social networking page for Scrappy. It now has about 140 thousand subscribers. On the page, the man shares photos and stories from the life of the pet.

For example, Scrappy has been known to walk only in the yard of his house and won’t let anyone else enter it. He also loves bananas and has been spotted repeatedly trying to steal them from the kitchen table.

Judging by the fact that Scrappy’s page is still actively maintained and new photos are posted, he is still alive, although already at a fairly advanced age.
