Research on Alzheimer’s disease is progressing and it is hoped that one day this terrible pathology can be better treated and no longer be so difficult to live with on a daily basis for patients and their loved ones.

Simon’s father, who had suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for several years, forgot his family and became aggressive. It was then that Simon, his son, had the brilliant idea that will change everything.

In recent years, the disease has taken away many memories. Ted doesn’t even recognize his family. Luckily, his son Mac found a way to get his dad back…for at least a minute.

When Ted’s memory deteriorated, so did his mood.

“In recent years, his memory has seriously deteriorated. He doesn’t recognize me, his son. The disease also caused him many aggressive and violent outbreaks. It’s a terrible disease,” Simon wrote on his Facebook account.

However, son Simon refused to give up hope and came up with an ingenious idea of how to call his father back, if only for a few minutes.

Ted doesn’t remember much about his life, but surprisingly music seems to work wonders. As a young man he performed and sang all over the UK. Music has always been a great passion for him. And despite the fact that illness hits Ted hard, Ted keeps the lyrics and the rhythm under his skin.

In the video, we see father and son singing together. The two play to the notes of one of their favorite songs. The video quickly went viral, winning the hearts of many people.

According to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, music has the ability to bring back memories to people with Alzheimer’s disease for a short time, says John Gale in a Youtube-video.

When Simon realized his dad was “disappearing” he recorded one of Ted’s favorite songs and suddenly his dad remembered it and was singing the song. Precious moments that father and son greatly appreciate.

Simon has launched a Facebook page and a Youtube channel where you can see them sharing these pleasant moments. They also record their songs so that more people can take part in the idea of singing along with someone with Alzheimer’s disease. Watch the video below, it’s very moving and touching!
