How this hiker was saved after being in cold for 13 hours thanks to his dog. His true miracle of life

This is a story about how one hiker unexpectedly found himself in a critical situation. He is Grga Brkić was in the mountains in the Velebit in Croatia. He was not alone. His dog North was with him and saw how his owner suffered a heavy fall.

The man couldn’t move and it was getting colder and colder outside. The eight-month-old Alaskan Malamute lay on top of his owner and kept him warm for 13 long hours and that is actually very impressive.

Two other people were walking with them, but could not reach Grga Brkić, after which they raised the alarm and contacted the HGSS rescue service and asked for an immediate help.

After 1 p.m., about 30 rescuers reached the man at 1,800 meters above sea level and managed to carry him down the mountain. It was the most difficult and complex rescue operation they have ever carried out and fortunately everything ended well.

“The minutes and seconds before their arrival passed so slowly” Brkić told. “This dog is truly a miracle for me” said his grateful owner.
