Today, many kids wouldn’t recognize objects like a VHS tape, a landline phone, or a Walkman. What used to be a part of daily life has now faded into memory, almost like relics from a past that’s becoming more distant.

When I first saw the image of the item below, I was curious. At first, it looked like some kind of metal tool, but I couldn’t figure out what it was for. Can you guess?

It’s an old oil can opener nozzle! This tool, which dates back to the 1980s, was used to puncture the lids of oil cans, making it easier to pour the liquid. Though simple, its design was clever and very useful back then.

Thinking about the ’80s brings a mix of nostalgia and surprise—it’s hard to believe that over 40 years have passed since then!

Though these items are no longer in use, many people still keep them in their garages, either as a keepsake or simply out of habit.
