I gave my son’s old clothes to the needy and one day was shocked to discover what was being done with them

We have a ten-year-old son, and ever since he was born, I made the decision to donate all the clothes he outgrew. The thought of selling them never even crossed my mind—I wanted these items to go to families who truly needed them. For ten years, I kept up this act of generosity, but today, I regret it.

Recently, while organizing the closets once again, I set aside a large collection of well-kept clothes. Some had barely been worn, while others looked practically new.

As always, I posted them in donation groups, emphasizing that they were intended exclusively for families in need.

A woman named Alexandra reached out, and as agreed, I asked my husband to drop off the items in the city center. Everything went smoothly—until a few weeks later, when I stumbled upon something unexpected.

While shopping for Christmas pajamas for my son, I was shocked to find some of the very baby clothes I had donated to Alexandra being sold on an online platform. Among them were the pajamas and other items I had given away with so much love. I was deeply disappointed.

This experience taught me a difficult but important lesson: from now on, I will be much more cautious about who receives my son’s belongings. I will only donate to people I know personally, such as neighbors, who I am sure will truly appreciate the clothes rather than profit from them.
