In 22 years, this woman has given birth to 21 children and doesn’t want to stop. Here is what her large family looks like today

Leonora Namenyi, a woman of remarkable determination and an unwavering love for children, has become a well-known figure in Ukraine. In April 2011, she made history by giving birth to her 20th child, setting a national record. But her story didn’t end there—years later, she astonished everyone once again with the birth of her 21st child.

Her journey began in 1989 when she married her husband, Janos. Together, they built a life centered around their ever-growing family, facing challenges with dedication and resilience.

Despite the financial demands of raising so many children, they manage to make space for everyone in their two-story home. For Leonora and Janos, family is everything.

Today, their eldest son has married and moved out, but the remaining 20 children still live under their roof. “The early years were the hardest,” Leonora recalls. “When I had my first child, I never imagined I would have so many.” She also remembers the challenges of those times—before disposable diapers, she had to wash them all by hand.

Over the years, the family adapted, and things became more manageable. The older children began helping with their younger siblings, turning daily life into a team effort.

Providing for such a large household requires significant effort, and meals alone are a massive undertaking—each one requiring 5 to 6 kilos of food. Despite the high costs, the family has embraced this way of life and remains true to their traditions.

Leonora’s greatest dream is to build separate homes for her children so that, as they grow up, each one will have their own space. For her, every challenge is just another chapter in a life filled with love, commitment, and an unbreakable bond with her family.
