Macaulay from “Home alone” is already 40! The movie as the symbol of Christmas

Christmas is coming, and being in a good mood for welcoming this loved holiday is so important. For that we have many good films, songs that keep the Christmas mood up, but there is one movie that is always associated with Christmas. And that is of course the movie from the ‘90s “Home alone”.

Macaulay Culkin is the main character’s actor. He was the legendry actor to play the legendary role of Kevin McAllister, without who, it is impossible to imagine Christmas. He grew up in fame, as his big role brought him big success and his life started to be discussed. In some period of time of his life he tried to have a private life, but then he returned with new other roles. But he will always be mentioned as the kid from “Home alone”.

Recently, in August of 2020, Macaulay turned 40! As he mentioned in one of his interviews, that fact makes everyone who watched that movie every year on Christmas, feel old. And that is a fact! Everyone keeps talking about his age especially in this two years and no one believes it. It is crazy to think, that years pass this fast.

He said that his parents were always excited to see him in theaters, movies. They always asked their friends, who ran a theater to find a little role for him. So, he grew up in that atmosphere. That was the reason that his career as an actor started when he was just 4. His family also had financial problems, and that is why, everything for them was challenging and hard to achieve.

He made his big break as Kevin McCallister when he was 10 years old. The movie quickly proved to be an immense success. “Home Alone” was listed by Guinness World Records as the highest-grossing live-action comedy of its time. Imagine how surprising and exciting it was for just a 10 year old boy, who believed in his dreams.

As he tells, it was very unusual and new feeling after the movie, he didn’t immediately realize what happened. He became famous just overnight and he was surrounded with cameras everywhere. Everyone recognized him and his life changed forever.

By 1993, the boy had become one of the highest-paid child actors in Hollywood, earning a whopping $4.5 million for his role in “Home Alone 2. His family, as we already mentioned, was in a financially difficult situation, and this much success seemed unreal for them. He had many other legendary roles but he will always be, and stay one of the most important symbols of Christmas and New Year!
