Maria gave birth to a daughter in 2012, and 87 days later gave birth to her twin sister. How the fate of the girls is shaping up

Mary and Chris Jones-Elliott were thrilled when they found out they were expecting twin girls. They already had a grown-up son and daughter who were also looking forward to having two baby sisters at once.

The couple had thought of names for the girls beforehand – Amy and Katie. The twins were supposed to be born in September, but things did not happen as planned. At the end of May, being 24 weeks pregnant, Maria felt that she was going to become a mom. She went to the nearest clinic and gave birth to her daughter Amy on June 1.

Being born early, the baby felt quite normal, considering the fact that her weight was only 540 grams. Her sister, on the other hand, was in no hurry to give birth. Thanks to the peculiarities of her mother’s body, she was able to stay waiting for her due date further.

Mariah didn’t give birth to Katie until August 27, 2012, 87 days after her twin sister was born. Katie weighed 2,550 grams and was about 44 centimeters tall.

The twins were allowed to go home at almost the same time. By that time, Amy had gained significantly in weight, but was still noticeably smaller than her sister.

The girls, born almost 3 months apart, immediately drew the attention of the media. They also set a new world record, which was recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Despite the fact that Amy and Katie are twins, they have two birthdays. And on each one, both girls receive congratulations and gifts.
