Neighbors criticize woman who opened her door to desperate homeless man and his son

It’s so easy to judge without knowing, simply on appearance. Unfortunately, we can all go through a bad period in our lives. The consequences can be very difficult and depend on so many factors that we don’t always have control over. Michael Faling, for example, suffered very serious economic troubles and lost everything, taking his son Corey with him.

Michael Faling is the single father of his then 12-year-old son, Corey. They lived in Spokane, USA, and Michael had always done everything to ensure his son a good childhood, but sometimes life is not always all rosy.

Michael was fired by his boss, and his financial situation was so bad that he ended up on the street.

Michael and his son Corey became homeless, and since they had no family or acquaintances who could help them, they chose to contact several shelters in their city.

But none of them had room for them, so Michael found no other option but to stay with his son in the woods for a few months.

They could barely afford to feed themselves, and Michael had to send his son to school without a lunchbox. The whole situation was extremely complicated for Corey and Michael, who wanted to be a good father, but felt it wasn’t right for his son.

In a desperate attempt, Michael reached out to a local relief agency that helps homeless people find apartments. But he was told that they couldn’t help him in the near future because their waiting list was long.

Michael was desperate and about to give up, but Mel Woods came into their lives. She had heard about Michael and Corey’s situation, and chose to go into the woods to find them.

Mel had lost her husband Kevin six years earlier after a heart condition, and since then had been living alone with her three children and the family dog, Moses. When she found Michale, she offered him and Corey a place to live until he found a new job.

Mel’s friends and family called her crazy for letting a homeless stranger stay in her home. But she was determined, after her husband’s death, she was not afraid of anything.

“I think getting back up is what’s hard. And when you have everything you want, why lock yourself in and leave others out?” says Mel.

Michael, of course, took her up on her offer, and gradually he found his confidence and smile again.

He was finally able to send Corey to school again with a delicious lunchbox, and after a few weeks, he received several job offers.

Mel changed Michael and Corey’s lives with his selfless act, and we can all learn from his generosity.
