Charlie Pittman delivered a deeply emotional performance on The Voice Australia, paying tribute to his late father with a heartfelt rendition of Dean Lewis’s How Do I Say Goodbye.

Accompanied solely by a piano, the 25-year-old baritone poured his soul into every note, his rich voice seamlessly transitioning from deep, resonant lows to stunning falsetto highs. His unique vocal tone and full range captivated both the audience and the judges.

As Pittman reached the chorus, Jessica Mauboy was the first to turn her chair, a moment that brought joy to his proud family.

Moments later, Guy Sebastian joined in after being impressed by Pittman’s smooth falsetto, and Jason Derulo followed shortly after. While Pittman introduced himself as being from Sydney, he actually lives in Holbrook, Suffolk. Though he spent much of his early years in the UK, he was born in Australia to parents of mixed English and Australian heritage.

During his time on the show, Pittman shared the heartbreaking story of his father’s battle with advanced colon cancer, which had spread to his liver. The song choice was deeply personal, as his father passed away unexpectedly just a month before his audition.

Following Pittman’s performance, Sebastian praised his ability to blend emotional depth with technical precision. “Charlie, that was a really strong audition,” he remarked, making a passionate case for Pittman to join his team.

Ultimately, Pittman chose Sebastian as his coach, later sharing a memorable moment performing Torn alongside him in the show’s finale.
