Apart from the late Franklin herself, very few people can truly execute an Aretha Franklin song. Even the most skilled vocalists may encounter difficulties striking certain notes on songs such as “You Make Me Feel Like a natural woman”.

It’s probably for this reason that when Malta’s Destiny Chukunyere decided to perform Franklin’s “Think” during her audition for “Britain’s Got Talent” back in 2017, Simon Cowell didn’t appear very excited for her decision.

Cowell’s eyes widen as Destiny says she’s going to cover the song in the audition clip. “Very good song,” he says. This will be an extremely difficult goal for her to do at the age of 14, and Cowell appears to have known this from the beginning.

She was fully prepared to accept the challenge and demonstrate to everyone how dedicated she is to her singing career. As soon as the music begins, Destiny changes very immediately in attitude and becomes more confident, as she mentioned that she is more comfortable when she starts singing.

She effortlessly walks across the stage while belting out Franklin’s lyrics. The crowd celebrates as she even breaks into a few dance moves while singing. However, what about Cowell, the show’s infamously difficult-to-please grump? He can’t help but bob his head in time to the music, which shows that he’s enjoying Destiny’s performance.
