Son shocked his mom by choosing a pet from a shelter

Many children ask their parents for a new friend who will live nearby, wait at home, and share joy and sorrow with the little owner. Taking care of a pet is work, responsibility and a kind of test of maturity. Many choose as a friend of four-legged or feathered animals, such as puppies, kittens, a variety of rodents, turtles or birds.

Such was the case in Elizabeth’s family. The son often reminded his mother of the desire to have a pet, but the woman kept putting it off, explaining to the child all the difficulties that would arise. The boy, in turn, did not give up and his mother decided to take her son to the shelter, to look at the helpless animals left behind and to choose a friend. The woman also promised him that any animal could be chosen, but that the boy would be responsible for walking and taking care of it.

Arriving at the shelter, the child saw a lot of beautiful and still small kittens, puppies and other four-legged animals, they barked and meow, attracting attention, but his choice was a huge red cat. Mom’s surprise was boundless. So in the house came a furry fat Simon.

History of the fluffy was uncomplicated. He lived in the family for 10 years, and then was sent to a shelter. The owner did not have enough time, desire or money to keep the animal. He delivered the pet himself and didn’t even try to find him a new family. The cat spent the next year of its life in a shelter, where the adult animal had almost no chance of being placed with a family.

The boy chose the redhead at first sight, although the floppy cat did not even pay attention to the new visitors. When the animal realized that the family had decided to take him, he did not hesitate to climb on his new owner’s arms and purr, all his appearance expressing gratitude. Elizabeth’s son also did not let go of his new friend and held him in his arms all the way home.

Life in the house had changed. The boy and Simon spent all their time together. They slept and ate at the same time, took walks and watched TV. The animal accompanied the little owner to the bus and also faithfully waited for him from school. The cat did not neglect Elizabeth herself, from time to time climbing on her lap and purring.

Elizabeth has no doubt that her boy will grow up to be a responsible man with a big heart. He did not choose his friends according to their breed and beauty, his age did not matter, the little boy listened to his heart, which pleased his mother. Simon, in turn, became a family favorite and a devoted friend of the baby.
