It seems to be a world record. A wasp’s nest, seven meters in diameter, was in an abandoned house in San Sebastian de la Gomera, Spain – it occupied one room almost entirely! The nest was discovered by the police, who came in response to complaints from neighbors.

Then the anomalous nest was examined by specialists. They assured that ordinary wasps would never build such a giant structure. Most likely, the experts suggested, it is some kind of migratory species that flew into Europe from Africa. The Canary Islands are separated from Morocco by less than a hundred kilometers of water.

Apparently, the African wasps really liked the place where no one disturbs them and it never rains, so they decided to settle here forever.
