Amazing storiesKids Students helped the little boy in a wheelchair who had to wait in the rain for his school bus by Impress story 05.01.2023 05.01.2023 62 views Share 0FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinTumblrRedditWhatsappTelegram People with disabilities may encounter mobility problems and their movement may be made difficult by unsuitable street furniture. This 5-year-old boy goes to school and takes the bus, like other children, but his wheelchair does not make it easy. One example is waiting for the school bus. At the end of the street there is no bus shelter or anything to protect against the weather. Because Ryder can’t chase after the bus if he’s late, he always has to be there a bit early. That’s why he often waits up to 15 minutes for the bus, regardless of the weather. Ryan’s father, Tim Killam, came up with the idea of giving him an umbrella while the boy waits for the bus. But this is of course not ideal. When the weather turned cold and the wind started to blow harder, the umbrella offered little comfort. The boy’s parents made a request on Facebook if anyone had an old bus stop or shelter to give them. Then someone suggested that Tim contact the nearby high school. He emailed Dan McKena asking if there was anything he could do for them. The teacher and his 14 students were only happy to to something to help Ryder! This is how Ryder got his own wooden bus stop! Now it is no longer bothered by wind, rain, cold, hail and snow. Excellent work! Actions like this are truly heartwarming and inspiring!
