Children often ask their parents to bring a dog, but they sometimes cause unnecessary problems or are not being serious about being responsible for the dog. However, as the story of a boy from Mexico showed, a dog can mean a lot to a child, especially if he lives in a dysfunctional family.

Employees of the albergue Pergatuzoo shelter in the small Mexican town of Vicente Guerrero were very surprised when they saw a transparent plastic box with toys on top of which a small white puppy was sitting. “This is my dog Simon. I leave him to you because I don’t want my father to beat him again. Simon cries all the time because he is hungry and we don’t have food. Then my father gets angry and beats him. He says that Simon eats a lot. Don’t hurt him, I’m leaving all my savings here so you can buy him some food. Please don’t give it to anyone, when I grow up, I’ll definitely take it!”

The shelter posted a photo of the puppy and a note on their Facebook page, and the story made a lot of noise. People sympathized with the boy, who was forced to part with his pet. Some offered to take the puppy with them, giving the boy the right to come to him at any time, others wanted to talk to his parents.

A year has passed, the dog has grown. All this time the boy visited him, and when he could not, he wrote letters to him. Once he came to the shelter, but Simon was not there, he was taken to a veterinary clinic for vaccination. Then the boy left him a note.

“I miss you so much, Simon. They told me you were at the vet. I’m saving three pesos for a delicious tortilla for you.”

Later, during the quarantine, the boy sent another letter, which was brought by his sister.
