This unusual wedding took place in South Africa. 8-year-old boy whose name is Sanele Masilela recently married a 61-year-old lady who is already a mother of five children. Her name is Helen Shabangu and they both are from Africa. Curiously, Helen already has a husband.

The wedding took place, but it was not an official marriage. The little boy and the old lady are not going to live together as a real couple. The boy’s family told that their “marriage” is just a ritual where legal confirmation is not required and needed.

In total, the boy’s family spent more than 2,500 US dollars on the wedding, which is quite a lot for them and local residents. They had guests, songs, dances, and everything looked like a real wedding.

Sanele said: “I told my mother that I am ready to play the role to to marry someone. I am happy that I married Helen as a like her as a person. When I grow up, I will marry a lady of younger age and have my real and happy family”

Patience’s mother, who is 46, said the boy’s grandfather asked his grandson to marry before he died. The boy chose Helen as his wife because he loves her as a person.

Helen said: “We made the ancestors happy. Not doing this, would be selfish of us, as we knew the family needed this to not be in trouble. And so we did what the ancestors wanted”. They both were happy, that they could do something to keep their traditions, and make their relatives happy.

The wedding took place in Tswan, in the province of Gauteng (South Africa). It was attended by over a hundred guests, local residents, who were interested in the ceremony and wanted to see the unusual “couple”.
