The couple celebrates their wedding anniversary but the year of it will shock you

When you are in a relationship, you can quickly receive opinions from your loved ones on your relationship, such as, “it won’t last”, “you are clearly made for each other”, etc. In the end, only time can tell if the relationship is real and how long it will last.

This is how Ron and Joyce Bond celebrated their 82nd wedding anniversary on January 4. They are the UK’s longest married couple, and that fact makes it even more special.

In 2020, the couple even received a letter from Queen Elizabeth on their 80th wedding anniversary, which made them very happy.

“When we were young, we could not even imagine to be married for 81 years one day. We know we are very lucky to reach this incredible milestone” said Joyce, 100.

To which Ron who is 102 said: “Sometimes life is tough but together we get through it. We also take care of each other and that is maybe one of the most important rules for long relationships”. The couple married in 1941. How they always like to tell it was “love at first sight” for both of them. Their friends, on the other hand, were less impressed, warning that the relationship “won’t last”.

One of their children said: “My parents are truly an inspiring couple, not only for their family and grandchildren, but also for all the old couples. You only have to spend a moment with them to realize that they care and love each other, even after 81 years of marriage.”
