The dog kissed each puppy that was taken away by people. This is how she gained trust for people again

The stray dog, who would later be called Rainbow, never aspired to people. Life on the street taught her to be cautious and distrustful, but something happened that an intelligent animal could not foresee.

48 hours after the birth of her puppies, California was hit by a storm with record rains. Rainbow hid the newborns in the bushes, but the family has very little chances to surve. All she could do was trust people in this situation.

Not that Rainbow was driven from everywhere. On the contrary, local residents have repeatedly noticed her in recent months and tried to feed her or take her to a shelter. But the dog always ran away. And when a thunderstorm broke out, the rescuers who arrived on an urgent call for a long time could not understand where she was hiding with the puppies. The bushes are an unreliable hiding place, but it was not easy to find them at night, in the rain and with flashlights. And the storm got worse.

They were found! Now it was a matter of winning the trust of Rainbow, who might have slipped away out of habit, but hadn’t abandoned the puppies. Everything was done with caress and a few portions of food.

The rescuer carefully took the puppy and dragged it outside. Rainbow started, alerted and … licked the baby in the nose. As if reassuring – everything will be fine. One by one, they took out the puppies and each received a farewell kiss from their mother.

Rainbow did not resist when she herself was pulled out of the bushes and placed in a cage. The rain intensified and it was time to get out of the street in a safe shelter. People, dogs, equipment – everything was soaked through, and in addition, due to a thunderstorm, the electricity went out, so it was necessary to settle in the shelter and conduct an examination of the rescued at the veterinarian by the light of flashlights.

The result of the rescue operation: a thin, needy, but generally healthy mother dog and eight pretty puppies. They thought about the conditions from which they were rescued they decided to name them after the elements: Thunder, Breeze, Fog, Flash, Lightning, Storm, and the two smallest – Droplet and Drizzle. Rainbow before everyone’s eyes turned into the friendliest dog in the world, which seemed to want to immediately compensate for all the days of life without human care.

Puppies are growing up and will soon be ready to find new homes. Rainbow is no longer shy or afraid of people and she doesn’t mind her kids getting families of their own as well. This is how she gained trust- seeing love and care only…
