The fate of the 610-pound guy who was helped to lose weight by the King. What he looks like now

Khalid Shaari of Saudi Arabia suddenly rose to fame in 2013. Then the 22-year-old’s name was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the heaviest man alive at the time. Khalid’s record weight was 610 kilograms, and the young man had not left his apartment for several years because he simply did not fit through the doorway.

Who knows how much longer Khalid wouldn’t have been able to leave the house if it wasn’t for King Abdullah Al Saud of Saudi Arabia. It was him, who, upon learning that a record-breaking 610-pounder lived in the kingdom, ordered to help the boy get rid of excess weight. He also paid in full for the treatment and took care of all related expenses.

But even getting Khalid to the clinic in Riyadh wasn’t easy.

It took a team of movers, installers, doctors and construction workers to get the 610-pound boy to the clinic. Specialists removed part of the wall of the building, then used a forklift to lower down a specially designed bed on which Khalid was placed.

As it turned out, the cause of Khalid’s overweight was not only overeating and improper diet, but also genetic abnormalities that had to be corrected as soon as possible.

As a result of a series of procedures and the coordinated work of many specialists, Khalid was able to get rid of almost four hundred pounds of excess weight in three years. He was now able to move around on his own and even do some of the physical exercises he needed to lose weight.

Khalid Shaari is now 31 years old and weighs about 72 kilograms. He is actively engaged in sports and leads a healthy lifestyle. The man is ready for anything, just to never enter the Book of Records again. At least not with his own weight record.

Khalid is very grateful to Abdallah Al Saud for giving him a ticket to a new life. Sadly, the king passed away in 2015 and didn’t get to see the end result of his weight loss.
