The intelligence and sensitivity of lions. The old Lion stayed with his true love till the end

We always love to speak about the intelligent and emotional side of animals. They experience true love and rely on each other, and that is one of the prettiest things to watch in the nature. Let’s talk about a story that proves all this once more.

The heroes of this emotional, romantic and at the same time heartbreaking story are two lions, Leo and Muñeca. They are the definition of real faithfulness. They show that even in hard times they stayed by each other’s side and their love united them.

Before 2014 their family lived in circus in Peru. The elderly lion is Leo, who had two kids with Muñeca, their daughter Africa and Kiara, and their sons Rolex and Coco.

But sadly the big family became separated since the circus blocked the rescue, fled off with the lionesses still with them. Passed eight months and ADI caught up with the circus and rescued Muñeca and her two kids, and reunited the family in a bonding camp.

The final destination of lions was in ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa. It was a big pleasure for them to be there after spending so much time in the zoo, and have the opportunity to enjoy their freedom. And their absence during all that time, made their hearts grow stronger and closer. Leo and Muñeca seemed to be more in love than ever. They enjoyed their time and were always together.

But years passed and lions, as people, got older and gained some health problems. Specialists explained that their early health problems were especially because of the circus and the terrible conditions they had lived in.

Muñeca was 19, and one day she just stopped eating. Leo always noticed that something was going on with her, and that something was wrong. He as a real lover became closer to his true love, never leaving her side and supporting her. His face expressions were not as before, and he himself had some problems too, but it was obvious that the most important for him was his love.

Sadly, Muñeca leaved Leo alone last month. Leo was by her side till the last minute when Muñeca passed away. ADI was doing everything to make sure Leo was okay mentally and physically. They tried to give him some extra attention so he would be less stressed.

Leo is actually a very strong Lion because he overcame that difficulty, but now he has some problems with his eye, which was caused again in the circus. But he seems to be still going strong and not giving up.
