The largest frog in the world. Goliath frog

Hello, my dear fans of the fauna of the Earth. Today we have another record-breaker in our group in the column of all things “the very, very best”. So, ladies and gentlemen, meet the biggest frog on the planet: the goliath frog.

People write about it quite often, but for some reason they put up photos of completely different species, like the bullfrog or the aquatic frog. In reality, however, the frog looks like this, not like a round bull and waterbearer. Rather, it resembles an ordinary brown-colored frog, only its size makes an impression.

And its size is impressive: this amphibian grows more than thirty centimeters in length, and its body weight can exceed three kilograms! Indeed, this is the dream of any Frenchman. And although it does not live in France, but in West Africa, this does not save it much, as the locals adopt the progressive experience of the French cuisine.

Indeed, what good is to waste? By the way, I have tasted frog meat many times, and I can say that the meat is quite decent, something in between fish and poultry, which is not surprising at all, given that frogs are just in between them on the evolutionary ladder.

A notable feature of the goliath frog is that it does not have any indulgences at the start, and its growth begins like all other frogs, in the sense that its tadpoles do not differ in size from those that we see in our puddles.

At present, the animal lives in countries where there is practically no protection for them, and the locals have a shortage of food, so that the population status of the amphibian shifts from “threatened” to “critical”. Sad, but hopefully the situation will be brought under control, and with goliaths we can learn more than just from the Bible
