The Dutch charity Stichting Ambulance Wens Nederland fulfills the wishes of dying people by allowing them to rest in peace. Driver Kees Veldboer and his wife, nurse Ineke, came up with this project by chance in their home. Eight years later, they already have 230 volunteers, several ambulances, their own boarding house, and more than seven thousand wishes granted to dying patients. According to Kis, the dying have mostly simple wishes, so three or four of these wishes can be granted per day.

A 77-year-old woman’s dream: to visit a Rembrandt exhibition in Amsterdam.

54-year-old Mario’s lifelong dream: to say goodbye to the giraffes he looked after and cared for at Rotterdam Zoo.

Dream: See the stunning views of Rotterdam from the Euromast Tower.

Dream: Have dinner in a fish restaurant in Scheveningen.

Dream: Sitting behind the wheel of a yellow Lamborghini Diablo before I die.

Dream: to go to Disneyland.

Dream: to return to my native Poland and spend my last days with my husband and child.

Dream: to go to the movies with my girlfriends for the last time.
