This story is about a real time traveling. This time words traveled and reached who they were addressed to. Kevin Duke found a letter that would rock his whole life while cleaning up his newly purchased car for a bit. Kevin had already opened several times in the glove compartment, but without finding the secret letter. It wasn’t until the purchase was made and he drove the car home to do some cleaning that he found the envelope hidden in the glove box.

“This time I saw a rubber mat in the bottom of the glove box and for some reason removed it.” he said. On the envelope was the text “To the new owner of this car – important information inside”.

This piqued Kevin’s curiosity and he immediately opened the letter. And there he read something unusual, to say the least, and the letter was going to shake his world. The letter’s writer was a woman named Sabrina and it read:

“I just wanted you to know how special the car you bought is. This car belonged to my mother. The last time my mother drove this car was the day she left us. She and my daughter were out shopping and went to the hairdresser. This car brings back a lot of memories. My house and everything else is gone, this car is all I have left of material.

It is very sad to have lost my family, my home and now the last connection I have with my mother and my children because of something that I did not cause. I hope this car is the best you have ever owned. I hope it will last over 100 years. I hope the backseat fills up with kids, toys and stuff. My family was the reason this car was filled with lots of love and other gooey stuff that made me feel good. We took lots of walks, listened to 80s country music and rolled down the windows to smell the air.

I changed more diapers in the back seat than I can count. There’s probably a piece of wood or chalk hidden somewhere that belonged to my child. Maybe even leftover chicken. I don’t know if you will notice it, but there is surely a dirty spot on the dashboard. My daughter and I used to pretend we were on an adventure and while we were sitting there she always had her feet up on the dash. The driver’s side rear dent and the passenger’s side dent are from when my daughter learned to ride a bike…and crashed through the door…a few months before she died.

I know it’s just a car for you, but for me it’s so much more. A whole life happened in your new car. Love, happiness and adventure were in this car. So now it’s up to you, so, it is not just a car, it is a memory. This car, with all its faults, is the last piece of my family. Feel free to talk to them if you wish, I’m sure they would love to see and hear about your new adventures with this car. By the way, it’s called Sylvia. If you ever want to sell Sylvia, try to get in touch with me. Be grateful and happy and live and love as we did. I wish you and Sylvia the best.”

After reading the moving letter, Kevin posted a photo of it on social media and, using the powers of the internet, Sabrina was finally found so she could get her beloved Sylvia back.
