In this story one day there was a house on a piece of land but the next day everything was destroyed. This kind of thing can happen because of large-scale natural disasters or when a demolition company is hired to do the work. In the latter case, you must choose a serious and competent company because otherwise you can have surprises as in this case that we want to tell you about.

Jeremy Wenniger, had inherited a 97-year-old home in a historic neighborhood when his friend Mary Ann died years ago. The man lives in Los Angeles, but he still had contact with his former neighbors and planned to renovate the house. Unfortunately, at the end of February, Jeremy received a phone call that left him speechless. He was indeed told that there was no more house to renovate.

Jeremy wrote on Facebook that he couldn’t believe that was true. “We have done everything we can to save this house. Rest in peace my good friend Mary Ann.” The owner of the demolition company, Bobby Lindamood, apologized in a press release:

“As a contractor, I have been in the demolition business for over 35 years, and after thousands of homes, this is the first incident where the wrong house has been demolished.” Bobby Lindamood wrote. “We made a mistake and thought we had the right house.” He added that several factors contributed to the error. The house had no number and because of the rain, the address on the sidewalk was illegible, covered in water and debris.

The house was also comparable in appearance and condition to other homes the company had demolished earlier down the street, Bobby Lindamood wrote. The company contacted Jeremy to find a solution.
