Iam Tongi, a Hawaiian native who is 18 years old, and artist James Blunt performed a really moving and passionate duet that left absolutely everyone emotional, with no exception.

Iam Tongi sang “Monsters,” a ballad about a father, during his first audition. That came after Tongi told the judges about his father’s passing and how his father had introduced him to music.

Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry gave Tongi a standing ovation for dedicating his heartfelt audition to his father. He has no trouble expressing and bringing out his feelings.

The judges were astounded by Tongi’s rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s timeless song “The Sound of Silence.” And he starts singing “Monsters” once more on stage. A song about the bond between a father and son that functions as a brave farewell letter to the father.

The native of Hawaii experienced his father’s death only months before to competing on Idol. With a big knot in his throat, Tongi did manage to finish the heartfelt lyrics. Ever the professional, Blunt steps in when necessary after noticing that Iam is crying. This made their performance even better!

Up there, sharing a cold one, Tongi and Blunt’s fathers are watching together, beaming happily at their sons. As the moving duet gripped everyone including the judges, they started crying and getting so emotional.

After everything is said and done, Blunt gives the large native Hawaiian a hug. The man has the heart of a little child who misses his father. Watch the video below to see this heartfelt duet and don’t forget to share this article with your loved ones too! Enjoy watching!
