Welcoming a newborn baby is an important moment in the life of all mothers, whatever they are people or animals. Gorillas, for example, are extraordinary animals whose females are endowed with a strong maternal instinct.

The western lowland gorilla is an endangered species and is estimated that a few thousand still live in the wild but the numbers are declining and there is no sign that this will improve. Fortunately, conservation institutions are doing everything they can to preserve various species.

In the summer of 2017, 15-year-old gorilla Calaya became pregnant with Baraka, a 26-year-old male gorilla. Their child was named Moke which means “Junior” in Lingala. Lingala is a language that is often spoken Congo, the region where the lowland gorilla naturally lives.

In the moments after the birth, you can see how the new mom cleans and kisses her son with huge love and affection. She is overflowing with love for this little treasure! Watch the touching video below and share it with your friends and family if you have been touched by this sweet mom’s love too! Gorillas are fabulous animals and it is important to preserve them, like all animal species.
