Amazing stories The student refused to take his hat off. This is what the principal of this college decided to do by Impress story 29.04.2023 29.04.2023 255 views Share 0FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinTumblrRedditWhatsappTelegram It may come as a surprise to know that a college principal cuts the hair of one of his students. What can push him to make this decision and what do the parents and the student in question think about it? This one was highly praised and here’s why. Jason Smith, who works at Stonybrook Intermediate and Middle School in Indianapolis, USA, had to intervene when a student refused to take his hat off in class. He was sent to the principal’s office because this outfit was against the dress code, as is the case in many schools. The student in question, Anthony Moore, then spoke to the principal for half an hour, who couldn’t understand why the boy refused to take off his hat. The boy explained that he went to the hairdresser with his parents but hated the result. He was ashamed and didn’t want others to see it. The principal and the teacher found this haircut very good but also understood that at 13 or 14 years old, “social acceptance is more important than adult acceptance”. Normally, students who do not follow the dress code are punished or supported by their parents. However, Jason decided to try a different solution. He explained that he used to cut hair and showed Anthony pictures. He then proposed to the student to make up for his haircut. After some hesitation, the boy agreed. Jason quickly returned home to retrieve his mower and asked his parents for permission. Once the cut was finished, Anthony returned to class, satisfied and reassured. The teacher pointed out that when a student is struggling, “we should ask ourselves what happened to that child rather than what is wrong with the child.” Anthony’s mother, Tawanda Johnson, praised the principal for how he handled the situation and helped her son. The images of Jason have gone viral after being shared on social media. Many people there praised the principal, who considered a child’s well-being more important than strict adherence to the rules and took pains to understand the problem. This is really a very good decision and you can tell that they actually care about their students! Share 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinTumblrRedditWhatsappTelegram
