The Ukrainian girl reunited with her cat after leaving the country. The cat traveled 7,000 kilometers to join his family again

Pets are an integral part in their owner’s life. As we know many Ukrainians had no other option but to flee their country when the war broke out, unfortunately their pets remained behind. This story is a about a girl who said goodbye to her cat, but soon thanks to many people, the duo was finally able to be reunited. There could be nothing better for the girl.

Saying goodbye with hope to meet again

Agnessa Bezhenar is a 10-year-old girl who lived with her family and her cat named Arsenii in Odessa, southern Ukraine. When the war broke out In February of 2022, the Bezhenar left had to leave their countrey. Unfortunately, they did not have the financial means to take the tomcat with them. They therefore entrusted him to a relative and then headed for Romania.

They were then exiled to San Francisco in the United States, where they have since occupied a charming house kindly lent by a resident.

However, it was so hard for Agnessa. She was heartbroken and couldn’t get over the loss of her loyal furry friend and was always thinking about him. She missed sleeping with her cat and hugging him. She grew up with him. Parents missed their pet too, but they were worried for Agnessa’s mental state more. Her parents therefore recontacted a German air hostess they met during their flight, Dee Harnish.

A journey of 7,000 kilometers before a warm reunion

The young woman from the airline then moved heaven and earth for a miracle to happen. She informed Viola, a colleague, who herself called a lady involved in animal rescue in Houston. And she started the process.

Maria’s brother-in-law was notified of the plan to bring the tomcat to the United States. Arsenii was vaccinated and identified. He thus received his precious passport essential for a trip abroad.

The man then drove him on a motorbike from Odessa to the border with Moldova. From there, Arsenii was taken by a Good Samaritan to Bucharest where another family of refugees was waiting for him.

Arsenii later flew. Several stops were necessary, in Montreal then in Seattle, before arriving safely.

The awaited reunion

The reunion between Agnessa and Arsenii was very emotional. The cat showed that he missed his family so much too. They were the happiest in the world and couldn’t believe it. Since then, they have never left each other.
