The woman thought she had been visited by a stray cat, but in reality, it was not a cat.

Every year the number of stray cats increases many times over. This situation happens not only in our country.

Sometimes in life with people are surprising and interesting stories in the existence of which is difficult to believe. We want to share with you a story that happened three years ago in a small village called Akme (Nyhill County, Canada).

Our heroine, Claudia Hunkin, is a single elderly woman. She very often feeds stray cats.

One evening the woman was sitting on her porch reading a book. As she grew older, our heroine’s eyesight deteriorated. Claudia had a slight myopia, so she read the book without glasses, but in the distance she saw objects blurred.

Suddenly, the woman saw that a gray cat had come to her. He climbed into a niche and did not want to come out. Claudia did not call out for him. The kind hostess decided to pet and feed the uninvited guest. She put the book aside and put on her glasses.

It took our heroine a little time to realize that it wasn’t a cute gray cat that came to her door, as she thought, but a real wild animal – an opossum.

Opossums are natural scavengers and it’s not uncommon to see them emptying trash cans or bins and then “feasting” on the pavement.

Petting a wild opossum is not recommended. Although the animal looks cute, but it is wild and can chew your hand or bite when you meet it. The opposum’s teeth are very sharp.

The owner wasn’t frightened, she pulled out her phone to capture proof of her funny mistake. As soon as the flash flashed and went out, the beast realized it had been spotted, and dashed down the porch. Opposum was blinded by the flash of the phone.

Hunkin says she was glad for the visit, because opossums are “nice and friendly neighbors.” But she probably wasn’t frightened just because she didn’t have time to pet the wild animal.
