And unfortunately babies are in that nine too. Today’s story is about twins born in 2016, Abby and Erin. Everything was going well while pregnancy but the birth brought with it a very serious problem. What was the problem? The babies weighed 950 grams and were born 10 weeks earlier than expected. It was already a problem, not huge but still a problem because babies born like that require more attention. They had a terrifying problem- their heads and brains were spliced. Doctors hadn’t come across this kind of case. They didn’t know what was the right thing to do. The hard decision The parents of the babies couldn’t just leave them after knowing the reality, but they discussed and made decisions in advance to solve the problem as soon as possible. They hoped that they could help the girls to live a normal life and save their lives. The girls were 11 months old when the doctors decided on a very difficult and important operation for them. Promises couldn’t be given since no one knew how would the operation end. There was a clear danger that one of the sisters could die during the operation… They all knew the risks they were taking. The operation Luckily for all of them, the girls were able to survive the operation. It was something so wonderful for both doctors and their family. They had never experienced a happiness like that before. Everyone were so happy and couldn’t believe it was reality! Where are they in life now? The pretty girls turned 6 and live a full life, like all children their age. The girls’ mother is very proud an thankful of the work of the doctors and says they are true heroes for their family! She is also so proud of her daughters who could survive that hard operation in their so young age. The doctors are also satisfied with their work. The operation was the first such case in medical history when twins were separated that way and could survive an operation. The girls were placed in an induced coma after the procedure so they could relieve their stress. In order to restore the brain processes that did not develop during this time, the two are currently undergoing therapy and are always under control of doctors. Parents are very grateful to the doctors for their difficult work and hope that after such failures a full and happy life awaits them! This was the end of our interesting and happy ending story.
