One particularly shocking experience happened to Shirley McNally, an 82-year-old grandmother from England. Hoping to refresh her living space, she decided to buy a sofa through Facebook. What seemed like a simple purchase quickly turned into an unexpected ordeal—one that even involved the police.

“I saw the sofa online at an unbeatable price, and it looked perfect,” Shirley recalled. “I ordered it right away and eagerly waited for it to arrive.”

The delivery was fast, but something felt off. The two men who brought the sofa gave her an uneasy feeling, though she didn’t think much of it at the time.

After paying £180 (about 19,000 rubles), Shirley was happy with her new furniture—until her nephew, Keenan, visited. His reaction was far from impressed: “This couch is awful! It looks like it came straight from a nursing home.”
