Erin, a grandmother of seven, found inspiration for a major lifestyle change in her pursuit of financial freedom and simplicity.

After two decades in a traditional home, she realized she no longer needed so much space or possessions. Choosing a minimalist, debt-free life allowed her to focus on meaningful experiences and financial peace of mind.

To prepare for tiny living, Erin first tested van life. She converted a Ford Transit into a cozy mobile home with essentials like a bed, stove, and composting toilet. This experience helped her simplify her life, save money, and pay off debt while enjoying the freedom of travel.

When ready to settle down, Erin collaborated with a builder to create a 28-square-meter tiny house on wheels. The $102,000 home featured custom details like an olive green exterior, built-in bookshelves, and a thoughtfully designed interior.

She found the perfect spot in Tiny House Block, a mountain community near San Diego, where she enjoys nature and a supportive neighborhood.

Inside, Erin’s home is practical and inviting. The living room has custom shelves showcasing books and vintage decor, while the compact kitchen offers ample counter space, floating shelves, and a deep sink. She originally planned for gray cabinets but switched to white to brighten the space.

The bathroom includes a flush toilet, shower, and stackable washer and dryer, while her bedroom maximizes storage and features a loft for visiting grandchildren.

Through her journey, Erin has embraced the freedom of tiny living and encourages others to focus on what truly matters. Her experience proves that a smaller home can lead to a richer, more fulfilling life.
