What happened today to the emaciated baby, whose photo went around the world five years ago

Five years ago Anna Ringgren Lowen took part in a charity event. She visited the poorest areas of Nigeria, where she found an abandoned toddler in a village.

The child had been abandoned by his parents, who believed the child was possessed by a sorcerer. The boy was in a terrible condition, suffering from hunger and thirst, with a number of illnesses.

So the woman gave him water to drink and then sent him to the hospital. The famous footage went around the world and did not find anyone indifferent.

Doctors determined that the baby was in critical condition and gave no clear prognosis. The baby was named Hope, was able to overcome difficulties and eventually changed so that it is difficult to recognize him.

From the unfortunate child grew a cheerful, intelligent boy, who enjoys school, attends sports clubs, and is also able to draw beautifully.

Today the boy is in the care of a charitable organization, and it wasn’t possible to find any of his blood relatives.

The boy sometimes looks at a photo taken of him many years ago. But he feels no pity, pain, or fear at all. He is taught to forgive, not to blame his parents. Anna is sure that the reason for this behavior was not hatred of the baby at all, but poverty, lack of education, local superstitions and traditions.
