After 42 years of waiting, Stephen and Jeanne finally married. The couple first met in Chicago back in 1971 when they were students and fell in love. It was love from the first sight and they were sure it was a true love.

“He was my first love. He was my true love.” she told. But their love story was not easy as it started. Jeanne’s family opposed her marriage to a black man. The two lovers were eventually forced to separate, and Jeanne broke up with Stephen.

For the next four decades, they had no contact and lived their own lives. And only in 2021, that started to change. Jeanne, now a retired nurse, decided to look for Stephen again. A search on social media turned up nothing, but she was able to get in touch with her former love’s niece. She explained to him that he was in a retirement home. After no contact of any kind, Jeanne decided in June 2021 to travel to Chicago from Oregon to visit her love. She had so many questions to ask him…

The moment she entered the room, he immediately recognized her, said her name out loud, and started crying. “I knew he still loved me.” she said. In August of the same year Stephen moved in with her and they have been together ever since. On October 15, 2022, in the presence of 65 guests, they said yes to each other. They knew that they could already spend the rest of their lives together, making plans about what they will do that they couldn’t do during all that years apart from each other.

After 42 years of waiting, Jeanne and Stephen Watts have finally been able to resume their love affair and are now catching up with all the “lost years”. We wish the couple much success and love! Watch more details about their love story in the video bellow.
